Sedation Dentistry Toowoomba
Do You Have A Fear Of
Going To The Dentist?
Trust us to care for you
We understand that dental anxiety is a common concern. According to an Australian study, approximately 16% of adults and 10% of children experience dental fear and anxiety. This apprehension can arise from various factors, including a fear of pain, previous negative experiences, feeling embarrassed about oral health, or simply feeling out of control in the dental chair.
Unfortunately, dental anxiety often leads to avoidance or delays in dental visits, which can have serious consequences for your oral health. Untreated dental issues can worsen over time, leading to more extensive and costly treatments down the line.
When fear starts to interfere with your oral health, sedation dentistry can help.
At Garden City Dental Practice, your comfort is our top priority. Today’s advancements in dentistry mean that most treatments cause very little discomfort, but when that isn’t enough, we provide sedation dentistry to calm anxious patients.
Our approach includes a personalised treatment plan, gentle care, and communication support to make your visit stress-free. We offer comfortable amenities, a soothing atmosphere, as we strive to create a positive dental experience for you.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry at our Toowoomba office involves oral sedation and general anaesthetic. Oral sedation involves taking an oral sedative 1 hour prior to your appointment, while general anesthesia renders you unconscious during the procedure, similar to being in a deep sleep.
We understand that dental appointments can be stressful. That’s why our sleep dentistry is designed to make you feel comfortable and at ease to help you approach dental health with confidence, knowing you’re in experienced hands.
What are the benefits of sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry offers:
- Safety – it is an established practice that has been done for years
- Comfort – patients will be relaxed and pain-free throughout the procedure
- An amnesiac effect – patients rarely remember the procedure (if preferred)
- Convenience – a range of restorative and cosmetic dental procedures can be done right in our clinic
- A smoother recovery – patients are often able to go home 30 minutes after their treatment
- Affordability – this type of treatment is inexpensive
Whether you have limited time or just feel anxious on dental procedures, sleep dentistry is the perfect option to help you get the smile you have always wanted.
Our Sedation Dentistry Options
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment. It's like taking a calming pill to help you feel more comfortable in the dentist's chair. You'll still be awake and able to communicate with your dentist, but the medication will help take the edge off any nerves you may have.
If you have mild to moderate dental anxiety, oral sedation is ideal for you.
General Anaesthesia
With general anesthesia, you'll be completely unconscious and unaware of the dental treatment taking place. It's like taking a peaceful nap while our skilled dental team takes care of your oral health needs. General anesthesia is particularly beneficial for patients undergoing extensive procedures or for those with severe dental anxiety. Rest assured, we will ensure your safety and comfort throughout the entire process.
No matter which sedation dentistry option you choose, our goal remains the same: to provide you with a comfortable and stress-free dental experience. To find out more, contact us or book an appointment below:
